Just as many other phone manufacturers do, the W200i looks an awful lot like the rest of its phone line, which means if you're familiar with Sony Ericsson's usual design outlines, the W200i will be either a familiar and comfortable phone, or a stale concept, depending on how you nominally find Sony Ericsson phones. We quite like the dialling keys on the W200, which are a decent size, but are far less enamoured of the joystick selector, which has the all too common problem of selecting when scrolling downwards, or vice versa. The W200i's 128x160-pixel display isn't the sharpest you can get -- far from it -- but it's adequate for basic phone tasks. The W200i sports a surprisingly loud internal speaker -- it's pitched as a music phone with plenty of use of the Walkman branding -- as well as with what Sony calls Bass reflex; this is intended to preserve music fidelity even when bass is at a maximum. As with many, the W200i sports a custom connector on the base of the phone which is used for charging, USB synchronisation and audio output.

This phone is fairly sturdy. Lasts a while [it's still going after 1.5y] but has a few TERRIBLE issues: 1] it pocket dials constantly, or pocket texts [you can lock it but not easily] 2] it has noooooo memory whatso-ever: for example you need to remove any text msg over 100 [ish] otherwise you can't text until you remove text messages 3] the worst thing about this phone is that from about 1 or 2 weeks after I bought it, the speaker [which isn't very load at all] started making everyone sound like Charlie Brown's teacher!!!! Ei woan woan woan -SEriously the sound is so terrible you have to make people repeat three times TERRRRRIIBLLLLLEEE 4] the Phone/address book is terribly set up! Some dust got inside on the screen when the sides split that you can see now, but it all still works. Put some black electrical tape on the battery cover and keeps things nice and tight;) Sure it looks ghetto but hey, all i need is a phone. Texting is tricky with those tiny buttons so close together, and the joystick control that Sony loves to use is kinda clunky feeling after a few years, but I try not to abuse it.
The built in radio sounds great, and works with speakerphone when the headset is plugged in only. Walkman features are ok, didnt use that much.
I've had this phone for like, two years, and honestly, I love it. At first, I only bought it because the rogers store I went to wasn't a rogers wireless store, it was just a rogers video, so they only had a handful of phones in stock, but it's a great phone.
