Epson Linux Drivers Avasys Reviews Average ratng: 6,4/10 8288votes

May 23, 2010  In general, it seems that HP is one of the best-supported brands, and Canon is one of the least linux-friendly, although they do produce proprietary drivers for some models. Epson falls in-between. They produce their own proprietary drivers (see the avasys sig link), and the gutenprint driver generally adds support for them within a few months. Worse yet, Epson just took over the linux drivers from Avasys and will probably let them die. The print part will work with the Linux Cups system but the scanner will not work with any Linux software.

****How to get EPSON Stylus (in my caseTX117) scanner working? It was hard time trying to get my epson scanner to work 'cause no driver comes with my Ubuntu 10.04. So with a help of ubuntu forums and some research i figured out how to do it in couple of moments. First, about the printer.

It works with TX110 drivers, so when u first plug in the printer and the driver search menu pops up, and than says 'didn't find driver for epson tx117', choose driver manually by selecting EPSON and then TX110. Go to, choose English, scroll down and locate your printer/scanner model (im my case it is TX117) but you have to choose your own model), mark the desired model and scroll down, choose your distro, release and a couple of other options and click Next. In the webpage that opens scroll down and locate SCANNER DRIVER.

Find the.deb package 'iscan-data_1.0. Cara Hp Smartfren New C2 Bloot there. 1-1_all.deb', download and open with GDEbi installer, click on install. Now scroll a little bit down and find DEB 32bit package [libltdl7] (for Ubuntu 8.10 or later) 'iscan_2.25.0-1.ltdl7_i386.deb', download and install with the same instructions as before. In the Applications -Graphics you will find the Linux Image Scan.
