Freeman, this probably will not help but thought I should mention anyway. I had a 2450 but gave it to a Sister-In-Law when I got the Epson V700 scanner. I would test for you if I still had it. I use Win 7 Pro and have been able to install ALL of my older 32 bit software issues as well as utility programs. The Pro version of Win 7 has two areas for installing programs.
